FYI

This blog has been created to journal my journey as I conduct research for my MA dissertation (Dec 2011) at the London College of Fashion.

The goal is to start an eco-friendly vertically integrated apparel company in Lagos, however what I'm focusing on is the issue of sustainability (concentrating on environmental pollution) and how it can be applied in the apparel industry in Nigeria.

I've done quite a lot of research already: I've done lots of interviews, discussions, read lots of text books, done Internet research, read loadsssss of academic journals, and even traveled to New Dehli, India to factories there (check out my blog for that trip http://indianmade.tumblr.com/). Next stop, Sri Lanka :-D

I remember what it used to feel like doing research in my undergraduate days ... such a chore! I only did my work because I wanted a good grade not because I liked what I was doing. Now, it's so different. I'm hungry for more and more reading material, anything that will make my dream come true. The more I learn, the more real this factory becomes. It does get more daunting as I begin to see how difficult this mission is but at least it's better to know the details of what you're getting into.

Let me give it a fighting chance, be bold and take this rather large step into the world of manufacturing, and manufacturing in Nigeria.

Feel free to ask questions and contribute to my research. Enjoy.

Ps: Did I mention I'm retro-blogging - for June at least? So don't be confused about the dates at the top of the blog and when I actually post

  2. Hey dear, thanks a lot! God IS good :-)

Like everything else that was promising in Nigeria, the apparel industry is in a really bad state. I hope your sister gets her interest renewed, we need more people!

Good to hear from you.. thx for leaving a comment. My first one! :-)
